The bulb type is SOLELY to match up the harness in the projector kit so it will plug in to your existing wiring; it doesn't have anything to do with the type of bulbs you actually get. Be sure to double check the wiring anyway though; mine came wired incorrectly for our cars and I had to mess around to get things to work properly (see post 45 for correct wiring). I got the blue angel eyes but I'm leaving them unhooked because I blew out the left CCFL.

Excellent thanks guys! I knew you ordered the 6000k ones but was unclear of the angel eyes.

Maybe I will order the 9004 since they are grounded differently than the 9007 - could that have been the problem with your order do you think?

Maybe they just had a funky one, but I would order a 9007, and if there is that wiring problem, at least the problem has been found and can be easily correctable. I just ordered my kit, so hopefully within a week it will be here.. =D. Thanks everyone for your help on all the questions answered, and pictures requested!!

How does the HID setup work compared to the regular halogen on wet roads? I cant see anything driving in the rain with the halogens, i hate it!

Left my feedback on ebay for the seller - "HID w/ projectors kit ordered 9/16. Shipped 9/25. Received 9/29. As advertised." with five stars on all items except time to ship - one star.

They do not offer single replacement projectors or angel eyes bulbs. Oh well, guess I'll just have to live without them... unless someone wants to trade for my broken one...

As far as wet roads... there's no real way to win in those situations. The road has a glossy wet coating and 95% of the light is reflected away from you as a nasty glare in other drivers' eyes (remember angle of incidence = angle of reflection in grade school?) rather than off the road back toward you. HIDs are a little better than halogens but like I said, there's no real way to win.

wow, this is pretty cool, I've been watching here.

Personally I love it, but I think the housings need to have something done to make them look "right", perhaps painting the OE housings black inside or something, or fiberglassing some kind of cowl.

secondly, I honestly have to say, are you serious with the silicone? there has got to be a way to make those mount better than just goo'ing it all up with silicone. everything looked pretty professional up until that point.

anyway that aside, those look damn good, and surely are bright. It's a way better option than really retrofitting some Bosch or Hella housings in there.

Question on this:

Is the LOW AND THE HIGH BEAM HID? I have a 6000K HID kit on my car and have NO highbeams...the bulbs just shut off....now I am wondering if it is a wiring issue on mine...

And do they sell the projectors separate from the bulb/ballast setup? All I need is a set of projectors to do this (I think) or maybe it'd be worth it to just buy the whole kit...

I used silicone to seal the gap to keep out moisture, not to hold things in place. It was my only solution because the gap at the rear was not uniform, so I couldn't use the included rubber cap. The pressure of the lens over top of the projector pushes back and down on it, while the grooves in the housing keep it pointed straight. I put the nut back on the back to secure things even better. Trust me, they're in there good. Those things aren't going to go anywhere. I also think they look a little weird, but I want to keep things simple so I can revert back (*shudder*) if ever I have to.

Yes, it's 100% pure HID. The bulb itself stays on the exact same setting for both low and high. The high beam is actually done by raising the cutoff shadow, achieved by putting a sort of 'door' in the cutoff inside the projector, hinging it and hooking it up to a solenoid. When you flip on the high beams, that solenoid engages, opens the door, and lets more light out.

You probably dont have a bi-xenon kit that is why the bulb just shuts off. The projectors you can buy them separately you just need to find them with the correct bulb pattern.

No reason to buy the whole kit, to me, I think its overpriced (just because its bi-xenon and it has halo on the projectors). I spent less than the kit mentioned here and will have the same result..

A regular HID kit, will be a LOW beam only.
BI-XENON means to have both LOW and HIGH beam HID.
An HID BI-XENON kit means you will have a LOW and HIGH beam. If there is no mention of BI-XENON, than there will be no HIGH beam selector for that HID system, and you will just have the LOW beam, and when you go to hit your highbeams, your low beams turn off, and your high beams turn on, but you don't have a high beam HID at the moment, that is why you just get darkness..

Are there different bulbs I can use with my HID kit that have highbeams? Even if they are just halogen high beams, at least it's something...

As far as I know, you would have to replace both the HID ballasts and bulbs to get a BI-XENON KIT, that one will get you your both low and high beams. Unfortunalely our cars headlights (9004, 9007) use one bulb for both High & Low, and that can only be duplicated via BI-XENON. Any other standard HID kit will only have the low beam.

Look for the 9007-2 kits. They come with an HID bulb and a halogen bulb to use as DRL's and highbeams.

I dont think you need new ballasts when using a Bi-Xenon setup, all the ballast does is provide the power to arc the initial charge. I do beleive that some kits actually have TWO arc centres in one bulb acting as LOW and HIGH (maybe both light up?) i have only ever seen one like this and it was not in a projector housing. For the Bi-Xenons in projectors, there is a little shield that moves to allow for the light to rise - giving the impression of "high-beams". In some cases, i have heard of the bulb being mounted to an actuator that moves the bulb forward and backward inside the projector which also raises and lowers the light.

PS: My parcel has been shipped

Thanks for the compliments. If anyone wants a specific picture of anything let me know and I'll see what I can do. As far as pics behind the fenderwell, I'm being lazy so unless you actually want pictures back there, I don't think I'll take any.

Hey guys, little update.

It rained yesterday and driving home from work that evening my passenger side light was giving me trouble. When I first started the car the light wasn't coming on, but I got it to turn of after turning the lights off then back on. After a short while the light went out again, so I turned the lights off, then on again and it came back on. This happened several times; I suspected the ballast was at fault.

Today I pulled the wheel and inner fender off and removed the ballast, turned it upside-down on a hunch... and water poured out from where the wires to the bulb come from. So I took off the cover and saw a line that indicated to me that there was about an inch of water inside. So I just let it air-dry, then I siliconed where water poured from to keep water from getting in again. I'm going to do the same to the driver's side tomorrow (forecast: sunny!).

So just a little heads up to you guys - before you install your ballasts silicone those wires to keep water out. It's the set of wires on the left side of the ballast in the pics:

If the seller hasn't e-mailed you tracking info, I'd get ahold of them... they only shipped mine after I asked them where they were.

And yeah, I wish I didn't have them in the fenders, but I was lazy/in a hurry and didn't want to drill holes. I guess that's what I get for cutting corners, eh?

meh, one of mine sits right beside by CAI on passenger side and the other sits behind the headlight on the driver side haha.

They have emailed me three times thanking me for my business and giving me updates as to where it is. The tracking number they gave lead me to a chinese site which translates to "error" LOL.

I am sure it will be here this week, they said to let them know if i dont get it by friday.

If you don't want DRL, pull the fuse under the hood in the high current fuse panel. I think it's fuse #1 there.

Here's my question I can't seem to figure out.

Are these meant to just snap in place of the 9007 bulb and be retained in the housing the same way? They just don't quite fit in our little housings?

My trigger finger is itching. I NEED these. My wife's 03 Explorer with HIR bulbs has freaking amazing headlights.. I feel like I'm driving by candle light in my tbird.

Left the dead platform for good. It's nice finally having a car you can buy stuff for!

They're more or less designed to fit in place of the bulb in modern housings, but with our skinny, narrow housings it requires a little bit of ingenuity to make work. I know I said I didn't modify anything with my setup but that was just the one side for some reason. The driver's side I used a Dremel and a grinding bit and flattened out the "ledge" at the top rear of the projector just ahead of the threaded part, as well as flattened out the top ridge inside the hole for the bulb at the back of the housing. You have to pull out the little "shroud" that hangs over the 9007 bulb to be able to fit the projector in.

They fit, but just barely. With the Dremeling, the lens covers don't quite make it the last 1/8" into the housings unless you push them up and over the top of the projector then kind of "snap" it into place with the clips. It's not a big deal; in point of fact it works to our advantage because it holds the projector in place without any additional fastening. Without Dremeling, the gap is closer to 1/2", too much to simply force into place; I was too afraid I'd break something.

Heck, if anyone wants me to I'd be glad to mount projectors into their housings for them for free, I'd just ask you pay for shipping everything both ways. I'll even clean any yellow out from the lenses.

Did you ever figure out if those bulbs are available anywhere else?

I haven't found anything that looks similar.. Well, an H1 HID bulb is close, but not exactly the same.

I emailed the guy from the more expensive one , as it does look like it is a different kit, but we'll see I guess.

No luck so far finding replacement bulbs... I'm probably going to e-mail them and find out what they say about the bulbs.

I'm 90% convinced all those projector retrofit kits from China are the same. There was a web address on the instruction manual that I visited (who I assume was the manufacturer), http://www.hidlighting.com.cn/index_en.asp, and the pictures on their website are the same as the ones all the ebay sellers are using - even though the actual box is different.

I dunno.. I'm gunna pull the trigger on the $180 one and find out I guess if I don't hear back in the next day or two.

I'll keep everyone posted.

That website shows them to use a d2r/d2s bulbs which those clearly are not.

Left the dead platform for good. It's nice finally having a car you can buy stuff for!
