Did my tail lighs with VHT and got pulled over and ticketed a week later, they wernt even that dark. Went to the local junkyard though and picked up all new tailights and painted them a real dark red and havent had any cop trouble like that. VHT is great stuff though, blacked out the amber on my corner lights too. Just dont go toooo dark and you wont have any trouble.

It looks pretty good, but its quite dark, i would like to see someone pull something off that is less noticeable. Around here the state police would have a field day with something like that.

Ask me how i know .

has anyone tinted just the trunk lights? i have all tail lights tinted black right now with the birds still chrome and the individual reverse strips showing. but i got pulled over last week so (due to money constraint), i ordered just the rear corner lenses for legality. so my trunk lights will be tinted, but now the corner brake lights.

This post is from way back! Ok maybe I'm just not thinking clearly but he said he just did his with clear. So why do they look darker if he used clear? I like the way they look so.....how do i achieve this.

Pretty sure he meant that he spayed clear over the night shade. Brings the gloss back, otherwise they seem to get a kind of matte finish sometimes

I plan on doing the nightshades on the tail lights, with the reverse masked off, and do the GM headlight conversion except retrofit dual projectors and make them black housing... just my idea for the blacked out idea.

They get the matte finish with light coats. Niteshades looks glossy with thick coats, even without clear.
