I was looking for the OBD II port (Just found out I'm OBD1), so I pulled the glovebox all the way down. You can CAREFULLY pull in the sides of the glovebox and it will then fall completely down (spilling out all the contents).. When I did that I found an old insurance documents, and the Washington State registration belonging to a previous owner. It's from August 1999...

So MAYBE if you bought your Bird used, might be some interesting stuff back there too...

Who knows!

Just be careful doing it, don't want to break the glovebox!

I've bought a few tbirds as donors. One came from a guy who needed to sell it so he "could buy some new wheels for his lady before he had to go into jail to do some time." Others were failed project cars which became my parts donors. Another came from an old man who ran the front into a tree in his backyard and then parked it. I got it a few years later from his son pretty much straight off the tree :)

In no particular order, here's the wierd stuff I found:
* Dead mouse in the transmission bellhousing (No resale value)
* Dead mouse ground into the floor.
* Mouse nest under the hood
* Meth pipe made from a big pen and a bulb.
* Really, really large garter belt wrapped around a sun visor
* Jesus Christ air freshener (not sure it would have helped the meth or the dead mouse but I'm not saying which car it came from to keep things anonymous).

Heh. When we bought Ruby Jean (the 1991 Cougar), it had been sold at a police auction because it had been impounded from a DWI driver that had been caught the third time driving with no license ...

We found a partial fifth of ... Jim Beam IIRC ... under the dash. Also some white powder, however, that powder was talcum powder. Yes, I had it checked.

I should have noted the title of this thread...
I wonder how many of us here are original owners of their Courgars, Thunderbirds or Marks?

Looks like I'm the 3rd owner....

Mine had the original dealer sticker in under the trunk mat inside the spare tire.

I'm the "3rd" owner, my wife being the 2nd, and her grandfather being the 1st. :D

Since all my families cars are pre 2000's, I've found quite a bit of oddities. My cougar in particular was the WORST. I'm the 2nd owner. Got my car from a small dealer in middle of summer, and noticed the car had a gross sweet smell especially on hot days. The interior would have been mint, if it wasn't for what appears to have been a cup of coffee being flung from the cup holder at 150 MPH.

The leather seats were in excellent shape, but the carpet from front to rear was covered in brown stains like you wouldn't believe. All the soft touch dash panels have etching marks from the probably extremely hot coffee. Everything in the console area had this brown sticky crust all over it. The inside of the armrest storage was the worst. I thought that rubber pad at the bottom was glued in, but after peeling it off I found quite a lovely amount of dried pooled coffee underneath. :grin2: Ended up removing the entire assembly and cleaning it really good.

The carpet took a whole bottle of folex. That stuff works GOOD. The entire interior in the end cleaned up nicely, aside from all the etch marks on the dash panels.

Under the seats was a good game of, 'Put your hand in, see what prize you get out'. Vacuumed up a partially leaking packet of mcdonalds ranch from 2004, a lollipop, weird unlabeled candy, an absurd amount of rusted pennies, and a hoop earring.

Will check behind glove compartment to see what other goodies I get.

What's odd about my interior, the carpet has no dirt in it... Whomever detailed it did a heck of a job. Plus there's no seat wear. I really think the two older owners just didn't drive it much. All I've found under my seat was a penny and a hair pin...

I do need to go through the interior with some velvet sided tape, to quell the plastic on plastic noises..one at a time.

Bought Darren's bird, and it must be mad it got sold or something cause this sombich has some bad juju on it...first exit we stopped at it wouldn't crank...had to replace the battery terminals when we got home, then the meth tank leaked out all the meth in the trunk, then the dash and taillights went out...NOW, it will crank, but not start...so far this has been 9 grand worth of problems...lesson learned. I'll take my lucky streak now please...:|

'97 LX treasures: Dewalt tool bag with vibrating cutter/scraper tool and a bunch of blades, Ryobi drill and recip saw with batteries and charger, assorted plumbing related tools, stepladder, folding handcart, new in box work boots (size 11), two pairs of running shoes, Tiva sandals, personal lubricant, vibrating rubber ring (Trojan brand), ladies underpants and thong (size large), half-ass replica of a police uniform, more personal lubricant (strawberry scented), diapers (size newborn), Gerber skeleton frame pocket knife, Kershaw pocket knife, assorted generic brand crayons and a **** ton of napkins from a local barbecue joint. Car was a police impound, owner didn't want it back, so now I get to spend money on it, after I sell all these valuable items on eBay. Anyone want to make an offer? The weenie ring (assumed) is still in the original package. :)
