Removing power window motor. 95 Bird

It's been years since I replaced the power window motor (just the motor and gearbox). So I've completely forgotten about this. Do I have to do anything like taping the window if it's in the up position to prevent the sliding down and banging my arm up when I remove the motor? Also, are any of the tracks or guides rivited in? I'd like to clean them out and grease them up, but apparently the opening on the bottom track is facing the inside away from you when you remove the door cover
