well im not sure but my tach reads 3000 on the dot at 100 mph but i didnt check it at that speed i was more concerned with running off his 8 foot driveway. so i was paying attention to that not the tach. the time i looked at my tach at 100 was on the higway to missouri. everyone runs like 90 down there cuz the limit is like 75 and they are a bunch of rednecks down there and i always run faster than everyone no matter what the speed is so i was runnin 100 and it was only readin 3000

Hey, remember that custom Cougar wagon someone posted here like three months ago? It was silver and it was outside some restaurant.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's not much of a wagon after all!

all this talk about MN12 wagons....I had a drem a few years back that I saw a 95 Green 40th Anniv thunderbird....two door.....but it was definantly a wagon....I didn't really see a side shot as it was pulling out a driveway in a dream, but it was really cool looking

Now here is a story about the All - new 94 SN95 Mustang....it talks about the MN12 being "a real disaster"

The limiter on my three-point-nine V6 is set at 118, however, one time it did not cut out....went well past 120....However I've only taken the car up to the limiter a couple times....I'm not big on driving that fast anymore.

Id like to see a MN-12 wagon. Kinda like a Magnum with better aerodynamics.

The SN95 was a disaster, the car was too heavy for the power it had. I drove a 95 GT and man was I unimpressed. Definately NOT what a Mustang should be, especially after all the success they had with the FOX 5.0 LXs.

"She aint a Cadillac and she aint a Rolls, but there aint nothin wrong with the radio"

Of course everyone loves a hard worker, they do all the work!

90 LS - gone damn city drivers
93 Explorer XL 2dr 4x4 - totalled does anyone in that f*ckin city know how to drive

OK, that was twice in 6 months, red means STOP

Yeah, the SN95 had it's shortcomings throughout the 10 year run, especially in the beginning, but by 98 the 1st gen SN was pretty polished, and by 99 they had adaquite power output, and from 2001 on, with all the special editions, they where quite nice....I'm pretty impressed what they where able to do with what was basically a 78 Fairmont

Yeah, but it was cheaper to develop than the MN-12. The SN 95 was nothing more than a worked Fox chassis right.

now would it be possible, while looking at the AWD supercoupe, to see if there was any way to convert our current birds to AWD? would make them so much eaise rto drive in heavy snow.

Yea sure you can, but it would be a lot cheaper to buy a used four wheel drive truck to drive for the winter and rent a storage unit to park the bird in.

Basically.....But wouldn't it have been cheaper to develop the SN vs. the MN.....the MN12 was an ENTIRELY new platform....the SN was not,so it was most likely cheaper to develop.

Explain. I thought it was cheaper to make the SN over developing a new platform.

You both are saying the same thing, just different ways

MN12 = new platform = more expensive
SN95 = modified old platform = less expensive.

Thats true. I've always thought it'd be fun to get one of those "Futuras" and do all the Mustang mods to it. You'd basically have a wolf (Mustang) in Sheeps clothing.

The Fairmount was built on the Fox chassic. The SN95 platform is just a reworked Fox chassis.

They are practically identical to the 80's and early 90's fox body Mustangs.

In theory. If I remember right they even shared a lot of interior components. Its been a LONG time since I've seen the inside of a Fairmont! But drivetrain, suspension, and a lot of interior components should interchange. No promises though. Like I said, its been a long time.

LOL I've never imagined that. I've imagined a Futura with a vortech blown 5.0 5-speed. All tucked nice and neat under the hood. A subtle set of wheels and the ultimate sleeper!

What makes a platform a platform anyway? I mean, it doesn't exactly look like an '04 Mustang to me. I mean, structurally, what's similar (besides suspension and whatnot)?

subframes are the same, if not close, basic body structures , inner fenders firewall, floor pans . you can directly bolt a 86- mustang dash in place of the fairmont , zepher unit. etc. basicly you can take any later fox car and adapt most of the suspension, seats/tracks , drivetrains . well you get the idea. i had a pic some where of a friend who wrecked his 95 gt and took a old 2 dr fairmont and put the drivetrain. seats, dash , even redid the door panels to match it too . ( he usually has waayy too much time on his hands ) the pic i have is of the finshed car

A "platform," if I'm not mistaken, is a quick way of saying a certain set of cars will share the same chassis, base engine (Often optional engines), transmission selections, suspension and if applicable differential/rear-end.
