When I first updated to the DOCSIS 3.0 modem I was getting ~35 down, ~10 up all the time. I think that Cox can now regulate the speeds where they couldn't before.

Still horrible. "Slower than 87% of US, Grade: F"

Then again, may be dial up would be faster? You could also try Carrier pigeon ...
You are correct, only dial up, which is slower by alot. When we had it in like 2005, we got like 26kb down, it was rediculous. But most of the time I'm using my brothers wifi which is decently fast. Oh and I can't afford no carrier pigeon, gotta send my packets via snail mail

I've always consistently gotten advertised speeds at my house. Fortunately, I'm not in one of these saturated areas where the speed fluctuates during peak hours.

This is right where it should be (10/1)

ELNK Cable is actually Time Warner Road Runner.

I'm just glad they recently bumped the upload speed from 384k! It annoyed me for years that they would increase the download speed a little bit but leave the upload speed as is (it was 256k for the longest time!)

Not willing to pay for the faster tiers...

Have you looked at air-cards using the cellular 3G or 4G network? That may be another option. I've heard they're amazingly fast.

I get 17 gb of a rolling 30 days using this, compared to a 3G internet card where it would be faster yes but at the cost of monthly bandwidth.

They are scheduled to auto-reboot on the 6th or 7th, but the speeds went up for lite/basic/turbo yesterday. Normal/Wideband/Extreme stayed the same, except for Fayetteville where Normal get the same speed everyone else does now.

yes. actually I do haha. Japan makes it very simple. They run the fiber along all the powerlines and they just have little pods for connections on the poles. So they just come out plug in and then route the fiber into the home. Took them about 25 minutes. It's slowed way down though. I used to get over 100Mb but... you know how internet goes.

FunktasticLucky, The speed is nice, but the commute would kill me, lol.

ThunderChecken, I'm going to have to learn how to terminate fiber one of these days; Gb Ethernet is getting too slow...

Yeh, they laid a new fiber right along highway 19 by where I live about 5 years ago. Of course, our little town doesn't get to tap that bandwidth...

That's kind of cool the way they do it. On another note, why is your ping so high with such bandwidth? Well, you ARE pinging a server 800 miles away! nm

Bump.

I ran this test again tonight. Just to see where I'm at. It's worse now than it was in October of last year.

Time Warner just offered me "Turbo" for another $5 a month for a year ($10 more a month after that). I signed up for it.

It's suppose to bump my bandwith from 10 down / 1 up to 20 down / 2 up.

We'll see what happens. Right now I'm still not happy with these numbers.

Edit: Well, checked it again and ...

I guess the change has gone through in the past 10 minutes - at least on the download side ...

Unplug the power from the modem, wait 15 seconds, plug it back in. Or just wait a few hours for it to grab a new bin file.
