Other than sending me mail with suggestion that maybe I should get a better plan, Cox hasn't actually done anything, no throttling, capping, nothing.
First time it happened I am glad they let me know. It was actually my cell phone trying to upload a video and it was failing. My cell phone was always 200 degrees and I had to charge it every few hours, once I got the mail I checked. It was going through 40 gigs a day of traffic, I hit my data quota on the 7th day of the month.
With 4 people in the household, 2 TVs that have Netflix built in, tablets, phones, computers always streaming.
I work from home and some days I might download 2 Microsoft DVD images for OSes, a few Mac OS install packages, Visual Studio, install patches on 6 or 7 computers, etc.
Generally by 8 am I have already used more bandwidth than my parents get for a month with a satellite provider.
