Rob what bottom end is was Hans running on that car and what heads, cams, headers?? I don't exactly recall.

I'm sure it was an aluminum block then. Not sure out of what. Was it running with Full interior and full accessory belts? I know when I ran him at Rockingham in 2004 he had the belts pulled and some of the interior out of the car and I was thinking worked heads and cams or maybe the headwork cam later.

I probably still have the slips here someplace. He was running 13.2-13.3s to my 13.4's - 13.5's on my PI set up.

me with my 12.76.

Is there a thread somewhere at has all this info in? Maybe we can make a list of all the MN12s times and mods? Just an idea...
There's Richard Rogers ----------------------- 9.7467 @ 138.56 Fastest N/A V8 from the SCCoA shootout list, but I have no idea what he's done to his car. It's hard to imagine a N/A V8 running 9.7 seconds without some serious work done to it. In fact I highly doubt he did that with a 4.6L engine.

For now this thread is it for the N/A numbers. There are various time lists at the MN12/FN10 sites. But those lists are times only with basic engine information. There's virtually no way to do an all inclusive mod list for each car and put it into a format that's going to be easy to read. Yes it could be done but who's going to invest the time and energy into creating it, verifying the accuracy of it and then keeping it updated?

I plan on starting an all inclusive times and basic engine/mod info list in the racing section for TCCoA when I get back from Houston next week. I'll try my best to combine the best times from these various lists and add others from here to attempt to make a more comprehensive - all inclusive - list.

See these lists for the current best times:

Mods? Yea, I got mods ...
Air silencer delete, warp drive, dilithium crystals, flux capacitor, Slingshot Rubber band power adder, Moonshine & Gas, Leaf Blower Supercharger, Hamster Wheel & Hamster, Energizer Bunny generating 1.21 gigawatts, Mr. Fusion® Home Energy Reactor, hover conversion and a sextant celestial navigation system (The original GPS)
Best 1/4: 1,320 nanoseconds @ 670,616,629.2 miles per hour

It doesn't have a modular in it.

Ron

I saw the car run at the SCCOA Shootout. Not sure if its a true 5.0 or stroked to something else. It was a backhalved race car as I recall tippin the scales at about 2900 lbs.

At the shootout I believe it made near 550 HP at the wheels on the dyno, if I'm not mistaken. I believe he was spinning that bird to around 7500-8000 RPM.

You may have to break the engines down by Naturally Aspirated 2V 4.6, 2V 5.0, & 4V versions for the Lincolns-swapped birds unless there is something larger than that running on the forums. A little information on the configuration would also be nice (Type Heads, Cams, Ported & Polished, Aluminum/Cast block, ETC) as well as verified track numbers.

Same could go for Power adder cars.

A few columns per entry should be all it takes. At least there would be somekind of list for comparison.

He was running a 98 Mark 8 short block with renegade heads, comp 268 cams, as far as bypassing the pwr steering I don't remember what was done on the 12.69 at 109 I believe, I'm sure it had spare rims for skinnys and it was mineshaft air cause he couldn't reproduce but that's all I know and I'm sure 4.10 and the small Kooks headers.

IIRC, it was a 5.0L-based 337c.i. when he brought it to the '08 Shootout. Whatever it was, it was healthy.

Yeah, I thought I'd mentioned that somewhere previously but wasn't sure of Kris's set up.

"He was running a 98 Mark 8 short block with renegade heads, comp 268 cams, as far as bypassing the pwr steering I don't remember what was done on the 12.69 at 109 I believe, I'm sure it had spare rims for skinnys and it was mineshaft air cause he couldn't reproduce but that's all I know and I'm sure 4.10 and the small Kooks headers."

Yeah Rob, that sounds about right. I believe when he and I ran he just had the aluminum block lower and cams in the car and maybe put the renegade ported heads in later.

4.10. The thing is the intake and cams I have now are for a lower rpm.
I'm going to try the 3.73's next time there is a day time T+T.
4.56 were too much for the cams and intake.
I tried 5.13's at the 1/8 mile track and ran some good times, but that was at
night.
For March 2013, I might get new cams and install the victor Jr.

What is the car trapping RPM wise at the stripe? Those 28's on an NA motor (full Weight car) will require some gear and breathing up top. I still think thats the right move with the gear (4.56 up) but getting the breathing restriction out of the way. Those heads should be awesome and really flow up around the 68-7000 RPM range. Depends on how much cam/Intake you want to run. Velocity wise they will likely be less than the PI at least in the lower ranges which could potentially hurt you going lower (3.73's).

There has got to be a bottleneck in the thing someplace either as you said the Intake or cams or both. I'm only guessing you are running good headers and exhaust on the car. The sky is the limit with you, that build and those heads. I can see it easily going mid to high 11's with the bugs out.

4.56 was too much gear for the cams and intake. 6500 rpm @ JBMN's. 6500 shifts.
4.10's trap at 6000. Shift at 6k too.
Dyno for intake and cam combo is 6000 max. hp, 5200 tq.

Well ideally you should be trapping about 500+ RPM past peak HP at the stripe. If it was going through the traps at 6500 that should be about where it needs to be with that particular set up.

The cams and intake is whats limiting the power possibly along with the fuel/injectors. I know nothing about the E85 alcohol so someone else that has experience with that would have to chime in on that. To fully utilize those heads you really need a cam/intake combo to put you in the 6700-7000 range and gear the car accordingly using the current tires. Dyno peak HP numbers should put you in the 6500-6700+ range and allow those heads to breathe.

My stock 4.6 motor with the stock PI heads tops out about 5600 RPM out the gate on the 27's NA. The HP peak is at 5100 according to the dyno, stays flat to around 5500 then starts falling off and torque peaks at 5200.

On the bottle it peaks almost exactly the same place (But higher) then carries out a bit farther and goes out about 58-5900 RPM. Thats on 28's also.

All I'm saying is, there is a lot of potential left in your combination once you sort through all that.

actually, if you can maintain traction, the higher the gear the more your avg MPH will be and the less the ETs will be so long as you have a rev limiter right before your acceleration rate hits zero. It's not something that most people know, because people absolutely cringe at the thought of redlining any amount of distance before reaching the stripe. But physics is physics, and linear kinematics hasn't changed in centuries.

Also in line with that I see your shift points were changed. Acceleration rates and gear changes make significant differences in ET. I've seen as much as 2/10ths in just a minor shift change with my car. Most tuners you can adjust the shift change and I'm assuming thats what you are doing.

There is a given point considering gear where the shift point must occur for the maximum acceleration rate. Converter lock up also play a part in that. That could be dealt with later once the shift points are optimized.

The best way to determine that is on the track. Start by making passes on a T & T methodically changing the shift points from 1-2. See what helps and what slows it down. Once you've found the sweet spot there go to the 2-3 and see where that is. It takes some time but is well worth the gains. Gear, powerband and maximum acceleration rate determines shift point to keep the car in the power band.

The only way to truly get it right is on the track. Tuners will get the shift points close but most will tell you to optimize them on the track with your set up.

That only works well when you're able to make multiple passes per track outing.
