I changed from a Vortech Enclosure to a carb hat. At 15 psi of boost, I was at what I considered the limits of efficiency of the carb enclosure I was using, so went to a Extreme Velocity carb hat. This will give me easy access to the carb for minor adjustments and jet changes as the blend of E85 makes seasonal changes. I plan on upping the boost to 20 psi, and to be extra safe during our very hot Tennessee Summers, plan on adding water/meth injection to it. Will only use it when above 90F outside, and going over 15 psi. Will use a dual nozzle variable rate system, and inject before the YSi and after it. If I was using the old enclosure, the meth would cover the carb as much as go into it.
I have only had it on the dyno 1 time since I installed the YSi, and switched to E85, and it made 825 RWHP at 6,400 rpms. I was going to make up the SC to carb tube to feed the hat from the front, but want to have enough room to install a turbo waste gate in the piping, then I can pulley it to get 15-18 psi real early, and stay there till it shifts.
One of the other things I plan on doing is setting up my 2nd carb to gas. With the carb hat, this will allow me to swap carbs, and run it on gas and water/meth if I am going to go some where that does not have E85, and it is not practical to carry extra 5 gal cans. I wanted to go on the Hot Rod Power Tour the last couple of years, but not enough E85 on the route.
Sure will be glad when Spring gets here.
