More issues



I had to put in a heavier LF spring at the track. Wheel was bouncing!

So I only had the RF in. But I think I need to tie the upper shock shaft to the upper mount. I don't think the shock is compressing right.

I have an Idea.

Let me work on it.

I don't think it's side load.

our shocks have a shoulder that the top mount sits on.
This shock doesn't.

Might have to put the top eyelet back on

This is the first I have seen this thread. I messed around with this a little once. My idea was to remove he eyelet on the bottom and bolt it through the bottom and not through the side like you did. It should gain a couple of inches. The only thing I don't know is if there would be enough control arm clearance. I never got it completed though. I do have one of those Bilstein's though that I could play with....I think it is a 3535.

update:



I just tried an AFco small body shock(1.64 Dia.) in the stock housing.
It fit!

Going to use as LF shock. Different valving. $80.00 each

The upper mount looks like it will work.
I race Saturday If I get time to get it in we will see.
still working on the racing nose. ($100)

Bilstein shock mod
Still testing

Shocks



Well they work good when I bolted to the top.
Don't look great, & you wound have to cut up your tops & the top of the tower.

One might make an upper mount & weld on threaded nuts.
Then you would not have to cut the tower.

You would need a proper spring/shock compressor.

Next is the rear shocks. Need to fix a push out of the corner.

I got my Afco's from our local race shop. Mine was Bicknell.

I'm sure you have one near you.
My Bilstein's came from DAY Motor Sports. They are in Texas.
They have AFCO's as well.

Stinking rules



Between lack of time & rule changes i have been out.

I need a better top mount. someone here was making one i liked.

I can't use an eye bolt upper mount.
I also have to change the gas pedal, solid linkage style.

Engine still apart. but going with long duration cam. about 300* duration.

Got parts for pumpkin that broke when an axle gave up.

Currently my track is in limbo.!
past promoter said no more oval racing.
owner said there will be.

That makes absolutely no sense! I could almost understand if they said you have to change to a cable if they were worried about a rod going into the car and hurting a driver, but why force everyone to adapt an outdated design?

We lost the "Atomic Speedway" here a few years back; it's a truck maintenance facility now.

I'd like to get one with the center metal bushing in a size that will clear the racing Koni shocks; they're 14mm instead of 12mm diameter shafts.
