Brake bleeding / flushing article (w/ ABS tool)

Well I had a spongy brake pedal and black disgusting fluid, so I flushed the whole system today. I got my hands on one of the Ford ABS tools that lets you flush the ABS valves.

I posted the article with a bunch of pics, if you see a mistake let me know. If you have something to add, let me know and I'll include it in the article...

Thanks. If it's good, maybe a mod can make this thread sticky

He's changing brake fluid, not transmission fluid.

Mercon V is transmission fluid. I doubt it will stand up to DOT3 standards anyways.

Mercon V is for transmissions and the power steering system. I want my car to stop so I used the proper fluid for the brake system

If you are just changing the calipers I believe you won't need the fancy ABS tool. If you disconnect anything at the ABS HCU you should need to use the tool though.

Reminded me of the guy with a 95 Cobra who flushed his oil system with a garden hose

Oh that little statement was from a while ago, I haven't been having problems lately.... other than the annoying and unnecessary wait between searches. Like the site gets that much traffic at once
