Hey guys, new member here

Hey my name's Ryan. Just got my first Thunderbird. She's a green 95 LX with only 90k miles. Should be a fun project car seeing my 86 mustang didn't work out. I live in the Buffalo NY area. I don't plan on doing much with her besides taking out the violin case air intake, because it looks like hell. Maybe exhaust after that. So much helpful information on here. Well anyways here's some pictures of my new lady.

One thing I've noticed is that the Thunderbird emblem on the front grill is painted the cars color. I've only ever seen them chrome. Does this mean anything such as a different sub model?

Nope, probably done by a previous owner or a body shop.

Welcome Ryan!

Nice car. We have the same color scheme. Main differences, yours is a she, mines a he with a moon roof.

Do you realize you were just passed by a NASCAR? I didn't think so.

Welcome!

Personally, I would not change the intake and exhaust. The 95's have the low performance heads and intake manifold, and unless you're going to change those, intake and exhaust will just make a lot of noise.

Living in the snow belt, I would spend the money on undercoating, and a Trak-lok diff with 3.55 gears. That will give you a nice boost in performance, along with getting around in the snow better.

I have an 07 Monte ss with 5.3 for my DD. And a f150 for work. I plan on making her my summer weekend car. Something to work on and only drive in the warmer months. So I'm not too concerned about rust. Just got to keep it clean.

Go with 3.73's and a TL unit then, that will wake it up a lot. PI heads/cams/intake and fuel rails off a 96-97 will get you more power as well.

Is the trak lock needed or could I just do the gears?

Depends on how much money you want to spend. You can go with the gears and call it a day.

Yes, trak-lok is needed with a gear change. Why give it more torque multiplication, only to have it go up in smoke?

3.55's are the way to go on a car originally equipped with 3.08's. You can usually go up 2 "steps" in gear w/o requiring a tune. That will definitely save you some cash.
