update on the car....might as well

I am not getting the turbo's......I would rather have the 871.

I have part of the fuel system done, and have been grinding away under the hood.
I have been trying to figure out what to do with the firewall....as, that is going to take the most work to look good. I'm thinking some sheet aluminum covering the factory firewall.....I dunno.

Don't bother with the aluminum, just weld in patches in all the holes, then grind it smooth like you have been doing with the rest of the car.

-91 Cougar LS, coming soon, complete overhaul with a 427" Windsor.
-90SC 5-speed, MP2, coated rotors, double intercooler, 15%OD, ported heads, comp stage 1 cam, 85mm TB, 90MM LMAF, 80# injectors, soon to be transplanted into...
-90 XR7 5-speed black on black w/sunroof
-98 Mark VIII LSC, Procharger P600b, TR3650 swap and 3.73s.
-70 Torino GT Fastback project car. Needs EFI and a manual trans, but I'm not sure what motor to go with yet.

yes, I will post pics.....I had to go and get another angle grinder this weekend....this car has now ate 3 angle grinders.
1 really cheap no name brand lasted about a week.
2 was a harbor freight 4"....this one was the best.....
3 was an old sears one that was my grandfathers....it was old
4 I finally got a Dewalt(you can see it in the last pic)....hopefully this one will last.

I did look at the 7" grinders....screw those, those are too damn heavy!

After what yall see in the pics, I have already started welding more under the hood to finish filling in the seams....and you know what that means? yep more grinding...yay!!!!!!

that is what I am attempting now....I have the aluminum to do it, but I am going to try patching and filling first.

eventually.

painting it would be a waste of paint right now....I am grinding so much that it would ruin any thing I sprayed on it. The surface rust you see has taken quite a while to appear...it comes off easily.

Ain't enough to weld up what's there, you have to cut it up to weld someplace else.

Don't fret man, you will have a very nice drag car once done... And sorry to bring your idea's out to the light. I think you want to try your idea's, you just want to hear it from someone else before you proceed.

If you can think it, more than likely you can do it. Nothing has stopped you yet, eh?

I got a lot of small time consuming things done to the car this past weekend.....nothing really picture worthy, but it involved a lot of cutting, grinding and welding...imagine that! lol.

I also picked up a few goodies for the car here and there......1 good thing about having a project that never gets done, is finding the steals and deals online.

I'm hopping to finally install the roll bar in the next coming weeks.
I just can't wait to get past "building" the chassis....this crap is crappy to say the least.

If I don't have ptv issues with the motor, then hopefully sooner than later. As I would have to rebuild the short block...and right now, I don't want to do it.

So lets say a few more weeks until the cage is in\
after that goes in, I need to paint the whole car excluding the exterior.(this is after I finish the smoothing under the hood)\
Then I need to drop the entire rear assembly and make it stronger, also hopefully find some aluminum lowers for it.\
Then, I need to run the fuel systems, all new brake lines, and rewire the enitre car\
lets see, start putting the motor back together(oh wait, I still need to port and polish the heads and intake)\

So, who knows....I just have to keep at it!
