They're orang'ish yellow on my V8.. I'm wanting to swap them out with some refurbs to ensure I have a clean pattern. I'm getting very faint hints of pinging on moderate accleration.
I'm going to swap the injectors, put on new spark plugs and wires and a new fuel filter. She runs fine now, but I want that piece of mind.
MAF cleaned when I got it... Sprayed a good amount of MAF cleaner when I took it off. WAS giving me a lean error code left bank when I bought it, but using premium gas and fuel system cleaners has erased that code....
I'll second the 19lb injectors. I swapped in some newer four hole rebuilds when I did my intake. You're supposed to get new O-rings for them or it's advised.
Didn't improve my fuel economy a bit. Since it was done with the Cobra intake I don't know if it helped any.
I rebuilt and cleaned a couple of sets last year; I made an injector driver out of a PWM board I bought from GuitarMaestro with some other parts.
I wouldn't hook one directly to the battery, that's not really good for them. I used a power supply, and about 8V.
An easy cleaning rig: A 20cc syringe fits over the top of the injector, and a small piece of model airplane fuel line tubing between it and another 200cc one full of cleaner lets you clean the injector as it runs.
I used Chemtool B-12; it's not quite so flammable as other things. :ztoohot:
The only reason to go with 24# injectors is if you expect to make between 300 and 375 hp at the crank. The idea is, you want the duty cycle to be about 80% total capacity, and if you try to run the stock injectors for those power levels, you're running over 90% duty cycle, which wears them out faster, limits top end as they just cannot keep up.
That's why I said if you plan on other upgrades (heads, cams, headers, intake manifold, etc) it may be worthwhile. But if you're staying stock for the most part, absolutely no advantage and not worth the cost of a tune.
Just ordered an eBay set of refurbs for a decent price. New filters, ultrasonic cleaned, new O-Rings...
Will install this weekend if the weather doesn't turn to crap.
After that, tranny flush, POSSIBLE new power steering pump (lots of end slap) and a 4 wheel alignment/wheel double check balance....boom... she's up to my specs.
Don't think I need a fuel pressure regulator, if I'm at the right pressure at idle and engine off... I'd suspect it's working just fine.
