Radiator Fan Removal?

Just curious, how do you remove the fan & clutch assembly. I see bolts in the water pump pulley, and bolts between the fan & clutch. And it appears the radiator fan shaft is one BIG nut...

I'm assuming the nut unscrews? I've nothing that large!

Nut unscrews; it's reverse threaded IIRC.

You can rent the tool from AutoZone et al.

This is covered in the FSM BTW.

The big nut unscrews, but it is regular thread, not reverse thread. They sell a tool that holds the water pump pulley still by going across all 4 of the small bolts that hold the pulley on, but they usually just wind up stripping the heads. I always take these off with an air chisel.

Odd, how a Mustang GT's fan is different from ours. On LMG's site they unbolt 4 bolts and the fan and clutch come right out...
