Possible Future Combination

Not going to happen soon, but a possible future combination I discussed with Livernois Motorsports was P&P PI heads with my SVO blower. The advantage would be somewhat higher intake port flow and much higher exhaust port flow, which I now believe is the primary limiting factor for making power with my engine. Presumably the blower would need to be slowed down significantly due to the higher static compression with PI heads. Anybody running an SVO on PIs? Does that combination bolt together without big issues?

Yeap that's what I run pi heads with npi blwer but you gotta have the coolant port welded to match the heads and it makes more power than the npi heads hands down

Robert,

Are you referring to a coolant port in the block or in the blower?

Does anyone have pictures of what really needs to be plugged on the blower for me to get a better idea of what it looks like.

I'm running a PI motor and just recieved a SVO blower. I'd like to get the ball moving in the install. I have gaskets from my buddies old PI motor that I asked him to save for me to match up to the blower. I can take pictures of what my gaskets look like resting on top of the blower upside down in the correct way that they'd be on the PI heads.

If RobertP wants to photoshop a circle of what needs to be "plugged" it'sd be great. I have a aluminum shop here that I called that can do the work. I just need to telll where it needs to be plugged.

Thanks guys and I'll be posting more and hopefully tunning it in January when the new gears get installed into the new rearend.

Hey Rob I got a pic of the underbelly of the blower - Could you point out what needs to be plugged? I do need to pick up a new set of gaskets to line them up right but it looks like the driver's side gasket (second pic) that I have will line up fine with all ports and holes. Am I missing something???

I pulled out my ported PI heads and placed the gaskets on them.

This is a pick of the gaskets (PI) on the bottom of the blower.

Closer look at the gasket on the rear of the blower on the Pass Side.

Driver's side head with gasket ...

Pass side head with gasket .....

Looks like one side will be ok and the other i'm going to have problems with. What do I do now at this point?

So I did some cleaning today to the SC. Is this the location that is supost to have the port fixed? When I placed my PI gasket on it, it looks like it doesn't interfear with the blower's port going to the cylinder. Here are the pics .....

Now I did notice a lip going around the coolant port on both sides - passenger side looked like it had more work done to it than the other side. With the gaskets on, I see no issues - UNLESS other wise you guys can tell me so.

Thanks Rob - Is that the area that needs to be filled in partly to avoid the coolant leak? Looking at the picture of the port - its the top left of the passage correct? Its where the gasket overhangs the hole?

Just got off the phone with the guy from the fab shop that can do the work - going to see him on next monday. He said that he does do the work. I'm going to see if my old gaskets are still on my old NPI motor at my buddies house - If not i'll pick up new ones and then exchange them for the PI style and not have to worry about getting those down the line.

I'll take pictures and post a new thread. Going to do a whole write up of adding a SVO blower to a PI engine.

I kinda figured that - but doing what you said as far that port fill in per leakage - it will work correct??!!

Well i'm not looking to install it yesterday - i'd like to get it on right and make it work at the same time with out too many headaches. I have everything - I just need to make it work first. If there are a few guys here that can make it happen - why not me as well?? I'll be different and no one will know till WOT.

lol well even if you have the PI version they still wont know. But yeah everyone who has looked under my hood cannot seem to see or locate the snout of the supercharger. I think maybe 1 in every 10 may find it. They can hear it but are always confused. My supercharger is damn loud too thanks to the CAI I have. It just echo's through my inlet.

If the rear ports of the coolant passage of the heads are blocked by the supercharger body - has anyone modded their rear ports to make the coolant flow and not over heat the heads?

Did see the difference and showed the guy at the shop today. He told me $20 but I have to have clean the surface after the weld and so on. So now looking for a local machine shop to make the weld flat for the install to fit correctly. I'd do it myself but don't want to mess it up.

So for my most recent update ....

Went by Laferriere Racing locatedd in Johnston RI and showed him what I was looking to do. He actually had a PI motor on a engine stand with out a intake. We placed the SC on the motor and I could see what needed to be welded. Now I also expressed the concern of there being no coolant flow through the heads. He (Eric) said that he can do a crossover from 1 head to the other for proper cooling.

Now the other machine shop was kinda sketchy so I backed away from him and when I talked to Eric, he told methat he use to install these things lke crazy back in the day and its been a long time since he see one.

Long story kinda short - either the first or second week in Jan, it will get dropped off for eveything to get done. Then I'll post pictures and hopefully a install article here.
