The passenger is fine. The driver has a mangled right arm. They were street racing at over 100mph.

Someone said the guardrail could have killed them, spearing the car like that. I say it saved them from going into oncoming traffic and taking out a minivan.

Wow. That came through right where the steering wheel used to be. He must have moved in a hurry to just have a mangled right arm. Guardrails have always kinda given me the creeps...

That's pretty awful. I'm glad to hear the driver lived. When I was driving a wrecker, I saw a 78 F-150 that did almost the same thing but the driver came out of it with a broken and cut up right leg. His drawers didn't make it though heh.. In his case, the guard rail came down the driver's side of the engine and neatly sheared off the exhaust manifold and then passed about 3/4 of the way through the seat. It stopped before it hit the fuel tank. I think this sort of accident is why *most* guard rails do a 1/4 turn at the ends and go down to the ground rather than having a blunt, though flared and turned end.

Damn, that's insane. I wonder when people are going to learn that street racing is stupid.

Actually the blunt and flared end is better. The ones that go into the ground can launch cars into the air.

im sure there is logical thought and statistics to show which is better. seeing as i dont know them, id rather be launched then impaled.
