Maryville is typically in the top ten best cities to live in.

The best motels would be different based on where people come from, and how close they want or need to be from the "event." From the South people will hit the Maryville, Townsend, and Sevier County places first. Coming from the North you will pass through Knoxville or Sevier County(Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Gatlinburg). The airport is in Alcoa, just above Maryville.

I didn't mean to suggest looking in these towns. If there is any kind of event, and there seem to be a lot of them in PF, then hotels there will be quite high.

I agree with ssrogers. The hotels theree get ridiculously high. Blown38, I would say Maryville, or Parkside Dr. in Knoxville as suggested above. Stay away from Seveirville/Gatlinburg though. Its not really worth the traffic and prices.

I do not know the actual prices, but Sevier County is very large. The prices everywhere you enter the area from will be reasonable.

Where you will find the highest prices are in the downtown locations of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Those are tiny pockets within Sevier county.

Maryville(Blount County) is a good distance away from there, so pick the N.E.W.S. area you want to stay in, and search in that area.

Alright guys . . . I wanted to let you all know of killboy.com. They take pictures on the gap of cars all day. There is a very good chance that he'll get your ride, so be sure to check it out after the cruise. Here is a pick of ssrogers from killboy. It is pretty awesome!

The Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area might not be a bad choice if someone wanted to make a weekend out of this, especially if wife and/or kids come along. I haven't personally stayed overnight in the area but there are quite a few cabins in the mountains that have decent weekend rates. I've talked to several people over the last few years and don't remember anyone being disappointed in the cabins. There is a ton of things to do in that area. I could ask around for names of some of the rental places people have gone to if anyone needs me to. Sunset Rentals is the one I hear advertising on the radio. I'm sure there is a bunch of info online with pictures and prices.

If a party of several people stay together, check out Hidden Mountain I believe it's called. It is just off Goose Gap Rd, and the cabins are nice. I have had a few family reunions there, and used to deliver their mail. The Walden's Creek Rd is close and leads to Townsend. I wouldn't call that cheap, but for several people in a cabin it's good.

Has anyone heard anything on the SCCoA site about interest in this? I know that a member here was going to post a link. If there is a way to find out, I'd like to know how many guys over there are interested.
Definitely take a look at the cabins. They are very nice and are in the beautiful part of the mountains.

Alright. That is what I was looking for . . . whether or not anyone from there was also a member here. I was pretty sure that they would be, but I wanted to cover my bases. The reason I want to keep a count is due to the fact that if enough people show, I might be able to get something made for all of us commemorating the cruise. Its kinda like when guys get dash plaques for showing up to car shows. It is just a thought, and nothing is in the works, but if the demand meets the minimum quantity it would take to get something made, I'm in. Like I said, it is just a thought. Thanks again XR7X2!

I had received a PM about this, so thought I would reply. First thanks for the Invite. I am glad to see some action in Tennessee from the MN12 guys.

My car is set up as 80% Drag use, and not real good as a canyon carver. It has a manual rack and pinion, and the suspension is set up for strip, and also has a very aggressive Detroit Locker. Because of the high compression and boost, it runs on only E85, which is not available in the Pigeon Forge area.

There was a Reunion of the unit I was in Nam with held in Pigeon Forge in August, and I wanted to drive it there. I figured I could take a couple of 5 gal cans of E85 with me to deal with the Pigeon Forge area. I made the trip from Clarksville to Pigeon Forge the week before in my truck to check every thing, and found it to be not feasible. The roads in the Knoxville area were too uneven to deal with, and the stop and go traffic in the Sevierville to Gatlinburg area would consume too much fuel for no E85 being available locally.

For what it is, I get decent MPG on the highway, on level roads, but with a non lockup 3500+ stall it sucks too much fuel in town, and on the long hills. The Detroit Locker would not like the Dragon at all.

If you guys ever get something together in central Tennessee, please let me know.

I will say that I am excited as h-e-double-hockey-stick!

By the way 392Bird, I checked out your website and that is one REALLY great build. Everything is clean and professional and professionally executed. It may not mean much coming from me, but I am THOROUGHLY impressed. Hey, how quick was that go-kart?

We have been added to the Deals Gap event calender, unfortunately, it is the wrong date. I'll be getting in contact with them to ask if they can correct it. However, we're posted for the world to see! Pretty cool if you ask me.

My parents would love it if I came to town that weekend but driving the SC across all of TN with two kids (1 and 3) and my wife may not be a idea that flies.

My concern besides the 8hr drive to get there would be the weather. We all know, that are from the area, how common a April Blizzard is, now yeah being in early April will keep most of the traffic away (since most bikers don't like it below 60).

I'd like to but I'm up in the air. Though depending on when everyone heads out there I could convey since have to cross the whole state.

Well the wife said we can go... BUT. Would also have to go to ATL too, and on that note I won't be there. I just can't see making a trip across TN, then the Gap and the 4-5 hrs to ATL and still go to work on Monday.

I would think that if we tryed to reverse the order we might end up not going to the skyway at all. There is a reason for the order that I have the roads in, but that's just my vote.

Shoot, I totally forgot we talked about that Steven. Brain fart

By the way, are you goign to meet us in Cookeville? I've been trying to catch you on the phone, but you know how that is. Besides, I'm it. I think that there are a few guys from Baxter and Livingston joining us in the morning to roll out of C-Ville. It should be 5 or so cars. I am sending a PM to all the North Carolina and Kentucky guys to raise awareness and get some more definitely showing guys. You know how I am. The more the merrier.

Also, anybody else who is coming from this side of the state is more than welcome to join us leaving from Cookeville.

As mention by Chris - I plan to attend, along with my girlfriend and sister/brother n law...try to bring all 3 of my SC's. I also mentioned this to another SC guru in Roanoke who said he would be down...so possibly 4 SC's coming your way from Roanoke.

Should be a fun time. Looking forward towards this.

Sounds like a fun time. I will be going with a couple hundred motorcycles during the second week of June.

As far as lodging I'd call around and check for package deals. We stay at Fontana and get some really good rates because we've been doing it for years and the number of people attending.

Other than that, contact Ben at the Crossroads of Time (www.dealsgap.com). He is very helpful and can point you in the right direction on almost anything.

The correct date has been added to the Deals Gap Calender. We're up there for the world to see.

Also, I saw this while watching Barrett-Jackson and felt compelled to post this. I don't want to clog this event up with useless junk, but I thought y'all would get a kick out of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IngugsIcCmU

I guess I should post even though I have talked to you in person. I do plan on meeting up in Cookeville first and I like the idea of getting everybody together and having a line of cars. However, I think it's important that we make it to the main meet point not only on time, but slightly ahead of time, at least by 5 or 10 minutes since we are the organizers. Giving us very little wait time for a Cookeville meet. From Cookeville, we'll need to leave at 6am CT. Dang, almost makes me want to go to maryville the night before.
