Ok, I'll look into those things. I just wasn't sure where to start.

Brake Light Switch around $10.00, its located underneath the dash board near the brake pedal. Here's a link with a picture...

when my mfs is acting up the turn signals, emergency flashers, brake lights and taillights all seem to quit. All I do, for now, is turn the emergency flashers on and off a few times and it all works again. I have another unit waiting in the wings tho to replace it when that fails to work.

I don't know if this helps or not, but when i tap the brakes it does kick the cruise off.

That makes it sound even more like the brake light switch.
Your car doesn't think you are activating your brakes.

*Edit* My bad, I thought I read that the brakes didn't kick off the cruise.

i second bad wiring

kicking out of cruise control the cars getting the signal from the switch so it knows you hit the brakes if the switch was bad the lights more then likely would stay on and not turn off,
