To back up Mike's statement, we got 13 months out of the reinstalled balancer before it ruined the crank snout in my son's '94 SC. We reinstalled it perfectly and it still self-destructed. The stock SC balancers (at least the '94's) are sort of like those tourque-to-yeild head bolts that can only be installed once.
Do the repair now but start saving for the BHJ immediately. Try to get one and install it in the next few weeks or couple of months at the most. It would suck to ruin the engine because of a balancer failure.
