Stock intercooler and fan not doing it for me... Anyone have suggestions?

So i'm tired of how little this stock intercooler and fan keep this engine cool and looking for a set up to help keep this beast healthy until it's time for my engine swap next year. Anyone have any good suggestions on where to start looking for something that's not going to break the bank but still work?

PM Kenewagner on SCCoA. He makes double intercoolers, that are basically 2 stock intercoolers welded together that bolt in the stock location. Next step beyond that would be a custom FMIC setup, but for a mildly built SC the DIC setup is nice, extremely easy to install, and makes a big diference in the ACT temps.

-91 Cougar LS, coming soon, complete overhaul with a 427" Windsor.
-90 XR7 5-speed black on black w/sunroof, MP2, coated rotors, double intercooler, 15%OD, ported heads, comp stage 1 cam, 85mm TB, 90MM LMAF, 80# injectors, and ported big valve heads
-98 Mark VIII LSC, Procharger P600b, TR3650 swap and 3.73s.
-90 SC Automatic rustbucket winter beater

A very effective way to improve the stock IC is simply to add a puller fan to it. Look at Super Coupe Performance or other suppliers.

The double IC mentioned is also an option but you just don't see radiators or heat exchangers that are that thick normally as the air can't effectively pass through them. The DIC can be effective as a heat sink once cooled down for a qtr. mile pass but for normal driving I don't see them as effective.

The factory IC is basically just a heat sink too. If your road racing the FMIC is your only option, for a driver/track car a double with a fan is just fine; since your time between boost will normally be long enough for the IC to cool down.

If all else fails get a bigger hammer!
