Boost leak?

So I'm a newby to the super coupes, but not new to the performance world. Just bought it, its 100 percent stock and it's a 1990. She runs great and the one owner took amazing care of it. I've been reading around on the boost levels and everyone is saying 12 psi, mine will only get to about 9 psi at 5k RPM's so I bought some intercooler sealant tape from supercoupe performance. Sealed all intercooler piping and re sealed the outlet plate on the top of the blower, tightened everything up really good and I'm still only seeing about 9 psi. Now, on my 03 cobra that had a twin screw Whipple I remember in the summertime at 100 degrees it would lose about 2 psi. And that is a twin screw so more efficient that the roots style. I guess my question is, is everyone else seeing about the same during hot summer days? Or do I have a leak somewhere and if so, is there a common place they leak? I should mention I am showing about 20 in hg of vacuum on the gauge at idle. It runs and idles great as well. Thanks all!

I wouldn't put much faith in what the stock gauge says, as they are notoriously inaccurate. That being said, the most common leak points are the intercooler pipe joints, and the bypass valve. I would skip the intercooler tape and get the teflon gasket set, as they are much easier to use, pretty much guarantee a good seal, and are re-usable. The bypass valve can be tricky to find if it is leaking, but the easiest thing is to pull the vacuum hose off and make sure it closes completely.

Ok I'll check out the bypass valve. Where do you get the teflon gaskets at?

Victor lists them at Spinningwheels-SC ... GASKET COMBO THUNDERBIRD-SC

They used to be available through SCCoA.COM ; not sure if they list them there still or not.
