vaccuum hose on intake tube?

I am working on my brothers 89 xr7 and after having it tore down for 2 months I am finally putting it all back together. The only problem I am having is where the vaccuum hose from the intake tuibe goes. When I removed the tube the hose stayed attached and I can't find where the other end attaches. Any help would be appreciated.

I found an answer while I was sluming on sccoa It is supposed to hook to the drivers side valve cover via a tube that runs by the sc.

You may want to plug the fitting on the intake tube if you aren't going to connect the hose from the valve cover elbow. Leaving the intake fitting open will allow unmetered air (airflow not measured by the MAF) into the intake and can cause performance issues (a lean condition for example). It doesn't take much to "fish" a flexible vacuum line from the valve cover to the intake and connect them up.
