Harmonic balancer

Could a bad harmonic balancer sound like a rod knock? I have a 93 SC 5 speed and I read somewhere that if you pulled the plug wire off of the plug in the cylinder with the knock it should stop. If this is true I either have mutiple rods knocking or another problem. Can someone maybe shed some light on this for me?

Also i have not tried to remove any belts (vehicle at work) and the factory gauge says I still have oil pressure.

Thanks

Try removing the belts, sc first. I thought mine was making the very same noise but it was a tensioner (new one at that!).
