Exclamation Shifter Broke!!!??!?!

the shifter on my 5speed is broken.

while i was driving the shifter all of a sudden felt sloppy. Well i was going from 1st to second and then it felt like the shifter got disconnected. I can move the stick around but it is just in 1st gear!!! it just feels like it is disconnected from something. please help, i cant drive around in 1st gear forever.....i had to have a friend push me backwards for reverse!

what should i do?!!?!

uh...........take it apart, see what's broken and fix it. More than likely a bolt came loose, but it probably wouldn't hurt to replace it with a B&M short throw shifter.
