rear main seal

well just got the tranny out for the rebuild and got it stored inside for the winter. i noticed the rear main is starting to leak can I replace that with the motor in the car?

1990 SC AOD 1.7L AR....11.75 @118
441 RWHP 435 RWTQ

Yes, you can replace the rear main seal while the motor is still in the car. You will need to get a rear main seal installer, or you can make something that allows the rear main seal to go evenly back in. Very simple job. I replaced mine when I had my tranny out also.

I don't really remember what I paid for it, but it wasn't more than 15USD. You should be able to pick it up at any auto parts store. I would steer away from going to the stealership for anything unless it's absolutely necessary! Good Luck~
