to Dual or not to Dual?

will dual exhaust work well with SC's? I am doing a rather significant power upgrade to the old girl, and I know that I need to flow better out of the headers, but will true duals work, or is it better to stay with the 2-1-2 system?

true duals will work but with the true duals you will loose some boost but add more safe hp! if you keep the 212 and just put free flow cats and muffs you will be fine!and not drop boost!atleast not more than true duals will! with true duals your lookin at only 5-7 lbs of boost! with 212 high flow your still above 10lbs of boost!

hope this helps!

If you have the first generation of gas tank it can be hard to run duals. There is just less room so a 2-1-2 might work better for you there or you could get the newer gas tank so you have the extra room.

I have the second gen gas tank. so either would be easy. Just wanted to know which was best.

I have Kook's headers and 2.5" true duals and I still pull 11 lbs of boost. I have the stock pulley too.

well in most cases you still loose boost your car was putting out like more than 12lbs of boost evan like 13-14 lbs actually but now only 11lbs! not a big loose but still a loose but on the upper side gained more safe hp! but overall true duals well get you the looks you want from a true dual setup how can you not look at a car with loud pipes!

im keeping my 2-1-2 setup and just making it high flow! im ok w/o true duals!
like i said its all opan how you want it to sound!

I decided to go with TRUE duel exhaust (2 1/2") from the headers to the tailpipes on my 91 SC. It sounds great, and it really made the car come alive so far! I really didn't notice that much of a drop on my boost gauge. (Maybe 1 psi)

I will be taking the car to the dyno in the next week or so, so i'll have some numbers real soon.

I wondered why you were looking for a towel the day you were over here!

Quick Story: Al and I went over to the Be-Bops cruise last night for a few minutes. We were just idling through the parking lot when a guy I know stopped us. I just let the car idle while we talked for about 2 minutes.

He turned to one of his buddies and told him that i had a "6" under the hood. The guy said, "Yah right, let's see this SIX" ........ so, I got out, opened the hood, pointed to the coil pack and said ........ "LOOK, 1,2,3,4,5,6 ....."

His jaw dropped and he said the "f" .......

By this time, Al and I where just about to burst out laughing!!!!!

When we drove away, the guy was still scratching his head ........ it was great!!!!

With either duals or a 2-1-2 exhaust set up, you are not losing actual boost, but back pressure from the sorry system we have now which is reading as boost.

Boost is nothing more than a measurement of restriction. Take out the restrictive exhaust and lower boost results.

Higher boost isn't always more power. In this case you want a pretty free flowing exhaust not only for power, but to ease the strain on the head gaskets. If you're looking at just the boost number you're missing the big picture (better performance, reliability, sound etc etc). If your wallet says true duals I'd go for it. Then again from the prices of some of the kits I've seen it may not be that much more, possibly less. I haven't priced one yet but I got ahold of a later model tank so I could run true duals easier.

My sc never goes over 10 on the boost gage...

I also have no cats or rez on it, and it sounds like bunghole
