1992 5.0 MN12 exhaust suggestions?

Hello...it's been a while, but I now own another T-bird.
The plan?
For starters, pitching the complete exhaust system and start over, and adding 3.73 gears to the rear pumpkin.
However, this question deals with the exhaust system for this car.

1. Is the SCP system (either true dual 2 1/4 or 3", plus headers and cats) system, plus cats, worth the $1000+ for the system?

2. If so, is there a cheaper, or different alternative?

I do intend on doing some other mods to take advantage of the exhaust system, however, I don't think paying $1000+ for an exhaust system that will only add a few HP total is going to be worth the $$$$....if it's worth it, I don't mind, but I am not going to blindly stray down the Import tuner path (thousands of $$$ for maybe 20-30 hp?)

Any suggestions?

a grand for exhaust? hell no. buy some mac headers, mufflers, cats, and tips, and take them to a mom and pop/independent muffler shop. stay away from midas, meineke, etc. install the headers first.

I wonder how many people have shelled out that much for the SCP system. I know I never would.
