Single muffler from flowmaster duals

My car has the flowmaster cat back exhaust on it. It drones, like the usual dumped flowmasters do. It's not real loud, but still annoying. It still has all of the cats on it as well. At idle it almost sounds like a 6 cylinder. I'm thinking about cutting the pipe under the car, going with the Hooker Aero Chamber muffler 2 1/2" in and out, and then 2 1/4" tailpipes out the back where the flowmasters are mounted up.

Have any of you done this? If so then, how does it sound? Will it still drone?

Would a simple muffler swap to turbo style mufflers where the flowmasters are now kill the drone, but still let some decent sound out???

I know that alot of you will tell me to run true duals, but the funds are kinda tight right now or I'd love to do it.
