My catless Flowmaster exhaust setup sounds like butt.

My exhaust setup sounds like butt. The downtubes are catless going into two Flowmaster 40 series at the rear. At idle it sounds great. Under acceleration it sounds like complete ass. Actually it sounds like the muffler can't handle the flow. I was considering adding a Dynomax bullet to act as a resonator. Would it help? Any opinions or suggestions? Would a single bullet be a good idea? Here's some shots of my exhaust:

Rear section (now installed on car):

at least you guys have exhaust... mine rusted through just past the resonator so all i have it the cats, resonator and a turndown.. and you think you car sounds like ass..at least you dont get a splitting headache after 15 minutes of constant drone @65-70 mph and 2100rpm... its actually more bearable if i shift it to normal drive because its a higher tone.. and i can actually hear my stereo over it when its in just drive. so consider yourselves lucky to have exhausts.. or the money to get them repaired just my .02

We just put a Cat less exhaust on the SVO car with a DI/SO Magnaflow midmount.(Smokymance's old exhaust)It has to be the best sounding exhaust I've heard next to JustinH's 96 vortech car (now owned by Pooch)which sounds extremly similiar.

Whatever they are... I'm not exactly a Flowmaster aficionado. I got the rear section at a junk yard for $26. Out of curiosity, what is the difference?

Here is a video I made of high-flow cat's through flowmaster 40's

It sounds good but at about 1700 rpm it will make you're ears ring.

I'm thinking of adding a resonator or changing to 60 series deltaflow mufflers.

I've seriously never been impressed with any flowmaster muffler system. they always sound choppy, drone, and get loud when under load.
Why don't you check out this chart about mufflers muffler chart
(i beleave they said the flowmaster muffler on there was a 50 series so its not as loud as the 40)

i see two problems: no cats and flowmasters. get some aftermarket cats and throw a pair of spintechs on the back.

I have a catless exhaust - Magnaflow 2 in 1 out (3") after the down tubes. The 3" splits with a "Y" into 2 Magnaflow mufflers in the stock position. No drone and I get complements all the time on the sound. Very quiet at idle, but it comes alive when you get on it. It was done by a professional and the D0G (Alan) commented on how well it was done when he put my converter in.
