Question Gutting Res?

Ok so if i have done my homework right I will gain some easy cheap power by eliminating my Res.... but my question is about the sound... does much change?

It didn't change when I replaced the resonator in my '94 Mark VIII with a straight pipe. Only thing I noticed was a hair more drone in the car
