97 Mark 8 dual exhaust on a 97 Cougar?

I'm about to do a DOHC swap into my Cougar and know I'll need some exhaust.

After looking around I found a very low mile Manifold back dual exhaust system off a 97 Mark 8

What I want to know is will this system make it around my gas tank? I hear I'll need to shorten the whole thing by 5'' but other then that will it work?

I'd say just have a custom fabbed exhaust done that way you won't have to deal with the headaches of trying to make the exhaust from the Mark VIII fit. That way you are done the first time around. Unless you have the time and tools to make the Mark VIII exhaust fit, that's what I would do.

Yes, it will all bolt right up into your car and fit around your gas tank .. just shorten it where the mufflers are.

You'll want the transmission X member from the Mark to mount up the exhaust system also.

The only issue I would see might be with the EGR - If you are using a Gen 1 intake manifold with Gen 2 Manifolds ..
