Exhaust studs

I have a couple of broken exhaust studs, the one that are welded (?) into the manifolds.

I've been trying to drill one of them out, is there an easier way? Or a drill bit that won't dull in 5 seconds.

Put oil on the drill bit, and don't try to support the entire weight of the car on the drill bit, and it will last and drill through just fine.

They are threaded into the manifolds, although if they are already snapped off you might not have much luck threading them out. I had to drill one out on the driver's side after it snapped off; initially I drilled a small pilot hole to help keep the larger drill centered then used the 3/8" drill to get the rest out.

I did finally get the hole drilled through. Now should I helicoil it or take it to Midas to have it fixed?

Neither. It it is straight through, put a bolt through the hole, with a nut on the other end, and you are done. If it doesn't go through, then run a tap through the manifold and use a bolt with the same size threads.
