Summit Racing Exhaust Cutouts

I ordered some electric exhaust cutouts from Summit Racing the other day and will be installing them on my 96 Bird. It already has a Trubendz custom 2.5 inch dual setup on it with JBA shorty headers. Does anyone have these installed? Any performance gains/losses? How close to open headers does it actually sound?

I have cutouts on mine, and love them. When you install them, mount them so the motors are slightly higher than level, so any moisture runs away from them. I will try to get a sound clip on mine this weekend.

I installed them mainly to use while under boost to cut any back pressure, to help prevent lifting the heads again. I have a hobbs switch set at 12 psi to automaticly open them.

Here is my install.

Thanks for the info man. They look great. How did you post a pic though? I can't figure it out. Also, I've heard it is possible to bend a valve with these. Is that true? Thanks again for the quick answer.

This should help you with posting photos on here.

You can bend a valve (warp) with shorty headers, or no headers or exhaust manifolds and pipes. With cutouts mounted on the bottom or the car, not vary likely. The problem is when you have cool/cold reversion pulses in between the hot exhaust pulses. With the cutouts placed under the car floor, there is enough pipe length to prevent any problems.

Nick, I was at the raged edge of my fuel system, and it was just starting to go lean, 18psi of boost, and standard head bolts. Since then, the block was
