Well, first of all... what's your budget?

If you've got a lot to spend, I'd say go for the full true duals setup that Mandrel Exhaust Systems sells; details here: http://forums.tccoa.com/showthread.php?t=118883 You can start ~ page 14 for details on the updated design and a sound clip I uploaded of it.

Second, flowmasters tend to be the least recommended mufflers here; personally I recommend Dynomax or Borla; others like Magnaflow.

Tips will have a negligible affect on the sound. If you're still running the stock y pipe/resonator setup, you are very limited in the amount of "rumble" you can get by the stock exhaust.

I've included the three steps of my exhaust for you to hear.

The first vid is gutted out front cats with the third one left alone, stock resonator and no mufflers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLjaX...eature=related

The second is with gutted out front cats with a Jones Full Boar DIDO muffler mid mounted $39.00 from Summit IIRC.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3voLL...eature=related

The Third and current setup is with gutted out front cats and a Magnaflow DIDO Tru x Muffler mid mounted. $100.00 from Summit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEZwN...eature=related

The second and third setups are both with 2.25 true duels from the muffler all the way out the back. The muffler shop I went to charged me @ $180.00 with me providing the muffler and tips for him.

Don't mind the smoke in the third vid lol that's just my 95 heads letting me know to replace them

To me the third setup sounds the best by far and aggressive as all get out, but you really cant tell that much from the vid, so I will try and do a real exhaust vid soon, + I can't stand looking at my car in the "old color" LOL Hope this helps.

Here is the new vid so you can really hear what the exhaust sounds like.

Duals all the way from the headers back or just dual mufflers? The stock tbird exhaust runs two into one at the resonator and then Ys back to two at the rear of the car. Was your exhaust stock prior to installing the flowmasters? BTW I love flowmasters on chevy cars but on our cars they just don't sound the same.......I've been through three different setups exhaust wise (don't ask lol). After all the different setups I am finally happy with the sound.

teksid block with forged internals, MHS stage 2 heads and cams, 80 mm 03 Mustang MAF, Bullitt intake with Accufab oval throttle body, Kooks headers, 2.5 inch catless true dual exhaust, w/x pipe and Magnaflow Magnapacks, Dirty Dog 3000 stall marauder tq converter, BC automotive built 4R70w transmission ,MMX Dynotech Drive shaft, Trac loc differential with 3.73's, custom made fssb, and lecb, rear shock tower brace by Azzkickers, JL subframe connectors, Eibach 1.5" lowering springs, koni shocks, dyno tune by Tim Barth at Mr Norm's garage

When I was running the stock exhaust set up I cut the mufflers off and added some 2.5in chrome tips IMHO it sounded pretty good and most people that heard it thought it sounded pretty good too. Tips will change the sound of your exhaust pretty significantly but if it is already quiet I don't know if it will really make it louder (assuming that's what your wanting)

Running 2.5 in true duals will give you a better sound and (obviously) better flowing exhaust. I actually like the sound of the super 40 series and super 10 series flowmasters BUT they do call them rustmasters for a reason.. they WILL rust.

I'd also like to know the answer to this question. If it is stock y - single - y duals then the flowmasters aren't going to sound nearly as rowdy as if it was duals from headers all the way back. I've been through a few different setups with my bird. I'm finally happy with how it sounds right now, but will likely have to quiet it back down once I get Kooks headers.

So everything form the mid mount muffler to the headers is stock? What size are the pipes coming from the front cats?
