4.6L DOHC 96 TBird exhaust

On this swap, have most people been using Mark 8 exhaust manifolds?

Yes, or Kooks 3/4 length headers, if you have an extra $800 burning a hole in your pocket.

Get Kooks if you can...if I had the money when my DOHC was done I would have put a set on. I'm running a full Mark Vlll exhaust with no mufflers. The tips go past the bumper a bit but I'll take care of that later.

Is it possible to run the stock TBird manifolds? They look like it's the same bolt pattern.

Or modify the steering shaft and use 03-04 Cobra manifolds(that's what many Mark VIII guys do). Most don't actually swap the Mark manifolds unless they start with a full doner car. Salvage yards just selling an engine, by law, will plasma cut off the catalytic converters, basically eliminating that option.

I'm putting the 04 cobra manifolds on mine and taking off the manifolds that were already on it because I think they hold the engine back.. I think they are off a navigator or aviator..

I saw a set of aviator manifolds on ebay; if the steering shaft would clear, that would be awesome.

Got any pix of the current ones?

Thanks for the info. If Cobra manifolds are used, what has to be changed on the steering shaft?
