opinions on exhaust setup

Currently I have stock manifolds into 2" pipe into stock cats into a 2.5" Y in place of the 3rd cat into 2.25" pipe into a 2.25" dynomax bullet muffler in place of where the resonator use to be. Im going with single exhaust all the way back im gonna see if mandrel exhaust systems will sell me just the drivers side part of their kit. Im not sure if I should just go with 2.25" pipe the rest of the way back or go with the 2.5" pipe back with the same 2.25" muffler?

Sounds complicated. Personally, I would get and install the full mandrel bendz 2.25 kit, and put an x-pipe resonator where your y-pipe is, and two 2 1/4" mufflers in the stock location.

But if you're set on a single exhaust, definitely a 2 1/2" pipe and muffler (ditch the 2.25" muffler). That's not much of an upgrade over stock as the mid-pipe is 2 3/8" from the factory.

I emailed tru bendz about getting just a section of the 2.5" exhaust kit and they said they also have a prototype 3" single exhaust system where they changed the angles slightly so it sits in the center of the tunnel. Will the 3" be too much and will it have a deeper sound?

3" is almost the equivalent to dual 2 1/4" pipes. You may want to add a resonator at the "Y" to go along with a good muffler in the back. It's gonna be loud unless you get a true "muffler" on there.

So I got the 3" exhaust setup with a thrush welded muffler out back and an exhaust tip. Im getting it installed tomorrow, only thing is the tip sticks out about 2" too far. I was going to cut off part of the outlet on the muffler so the tip would sit back further or should the exhaust shop be able to do that?

IMHO, and speaking from experience, those Thrush Welded mufflers will be too loud for you and drone more than you'd like. They're cheap which is great, but won't give you want you want. I picked up these at the recommendation of another board member FM1226S FLOWMONSTER Stainless Performance Muffler 2.5" 2 1/2" O/C........just make sure you get the right offset for your setup.

The shop I brought mine to angled the tips downward which helps eliminate drone as well. If you decide to stick with the Thrush I'd at least have the shop do that for you.

It runs 100% of the time 80% of the time.
