White residue on 02 sensors

is a white residue on the 02 sensors normal?. I just changes my plugs and what a struggle the passanger side is.just wondering if i was paranoid or not.

i just got my front O2's replaced
my mechanic said they were suppose to be brown and if they are white it means they are old. mine were white and i got them replaced. car feels more responsive but i think my mpg is same if not less...
