Get a Magnaflow dual in single outlet muffler and have it mounted in place of the resonator.

The shop can make it fit. I know the stock size of the cats into the resonator is 2"but I am not sure what it is after that since mine isn't stock anymore. It might be the 2 1/4. But like I said, they'll make it fit.

Yeah that was a one and only time. I went and put on my previous muffler on my other car and did a much better job. im hoping just this muffler will give it a decent sound. Anything has to be better than what I have, the car is pretty much silent when driven.

yea i have a di/so magnaflow midmounted in place of resonator using stock pipes, makes it sound better than normal, sound ok, but i would wnt it louder. maybe if i went with high flow cats and midmount would be better.

How much of a difference do you think a flowtech afterburner will make on a completely stock (cept for cone air filter) 93 v6 tbird? Soundwise I mean.

Will this still allow me to pass inspection and will it sound louder?

Do you have a 3.8l as well? my muffler is quiet and only noise i hear from it is at 2krpms and still isnt that loud. how much is this magnaflow to replace the resonator and is that legal to do in NY?

Also what is the BEST muffler to replace the resonater with? best meaning best sounding...

get that resonator (the middle of the undercarriage) hacked off and put your muffler in place of it. run dual pipes out the back, nothing at the rear. then you will notice a big difference in sound.

you can still pass inspection with a muffler change. i got a thrush glasspack from summit and had it installed in place of the resonator and ran dual pipes out the back. thats the only muffling device. much louder than stock, and it's been mistaken for a v8 many times.

nice man. That sounds like the way to go. I just hope it would be legal in NY to do. Also how can I run dual pipes when its a single in/out muffler? and would mechanics be willing to do this?

before I do this....would a flowtech afterburner make a big difference in sound or should I just go with a glasspack. Right now I cant tell if its only my resonater thats keeping it quiet or if the muffler itself is relatively quiet. If a glasspack would be louder i will ditch this flowtech and go with that instead.

it should be legal. you have cats and a muffling device. the muffler shops can and will make y-pipes for single in/single out mufflers. your resonator is definitely holding back the sound. get rid of it. i went the glasspack route since it was cheaper (in college at the time) and there were no fitment issues.

i cant speak for the flowtech's.

Awesome. Your glass pack was it also a single in/out? and yeah I was just worried about going through all that work with a flowtech just to have it not sound that great. I would rather have a single/dual muffler in place instead but if y-pipes will operate the same I will stick to what I have, i really dont want to spend too much on another muffler when I just got this one.

Nice man that looks pretty good. Im taking it to a shop wednesday hopefully if I can get out of work to see what the price would be to do that. One thing I noticed is my flowtech doesnt seem to produce any noise until it warms up a bit. My muffler is 2.25 as well.

Does anyone know if a thrush glasspack would have a deeper rumble than a flowtech afterburner?

Also someone told me that if i remove the resonator the car wont have the right compression goin back to the valves or something and it would have terrible mileage....is this true? does removing the resonator have any negative effects at all? Yes I know im 99% sure this is all BS. but im just makin sure

bs. you may want to ask about the flowtech on v6power.net (stang site). i dont think any 3.8s here have flowtechs.

ah ok....well I just picked up a thrush glasspack 2.25in 25in long i believe it is....You said it sounds like a v8? Hopefully it fits correctly. I'll have to deal with the loss of the new flowtech unless someone wants to buy it...only been used for about 3 days now
