3 Inch single pipe

I've been really thinking about the exhaust on my 93 5.0 I know that many of you are going true duals, but I had a thought. It sounds like some modifications are needed to make these fit around the tank and other things. Would (or how would) a single 3" pipe help for the exhaust flow? Unless I'm mistaken, we have 2 1/4 stock right? A 3/4" diameter increase would show improvement yes? Let me know some thoughts, pros cons. If it's a good idea, I may do it soon since my exhaust needs work anyway. Thanks guys!

I might be mistaken, but I believe mos tof the restriction on our cars is the third cat and the y pipe. Opening that up along wiht that 3" pipe would make a little difference, but not as much as adding an h pipe and true dual.

The old police package Diplomats had a 3 inch single for the same reason. Not sure exactly how much it helped but it would give some improvement Im sure.

@255rwhp my single 3" didn't show any signs of being a restriction
