Just got a good offer.

My neighbor came over today b/c he saw my car and told me he had a deal for me. He opened his trunk and there was brand new axle back mufflers from MAC for his 05 gt. He wants to sell them to me for 250. Does anyone know how they will sound. I have flowmaster 40s on right now. Those things were a beautiful stainless peice and the tips were huge but not ricey. Thanks guys

Bryan

I know they are not a bolt on to my car but i can have them customed and welded for my Tru-duals.

That sounds like a really good deal to me. I don't know much about that brand of mufflers but from the sound of it, it's a good deal.

Mac is a chambered muffler so it would sound similiar to the flows. I've actually heard that the Macs sound a little better than Flows but its all personal preferance.

So you're paying $125 a piece for mufflers, and what kind of tips?
If they are chrome, I say walk away from the deal.
They are chambered mufflers, will sound like your flows. Why not save your money and buy a real mod?
So you buy this for $250, you still gotta have them welded on. So at least $300 to get a similar sound, and have to wait 5k plus miles to get them to "break-in"?
Why not save up and get an XCAL2, or some 4.10's, etc.?

2.25" True Dual Catless DI/DO Magnaflow Exhaust, Eibach Springs, Addco 1 3/8", J-mod, Viper 791 Alarm, Clarion 855 full color touch-screen, Directed 2400 amp , 2 12" CV Strokers with a custom ported box, K&N air filter, 180* T-Stat, Xcal2 SCT TUNED BY LONNIE 17 x 7.5 (245/45/17) Chrome Cobra R's, 17x9 in back(275/40/17)
DOHC sitting in the garage
Teksid 2v plans?!?!
Tranny Cooler, Dual Remote Oil Filter waiting for install

Ive been thinking of getting them and if i dont wanna put them on ill just sell them. I am going to really start to mod my car now because i started school at Nascar tech so now the fun begins. I just liked how they looked and it would be different because my car right now it really a show car. I have moey saved up for a motor build. Still deciding DOHC or PI. I am def gonna get some 4.10s and i need a posi. I am going to the Charlotte auto fair and from what i heard that its a huge swap meet so im hoping i can get a steal on a set.
Thanks guys
Bryan

if the chrome peels out the metal beneath it will start rusting.

You can buy chrome tips for $5 at a grocery store. They will last one year, provided you drive them year-round and have salt on the roads at some points.

Stainless won't rust out like the chrome does.

Chrome tips are worthless, IMO
