Fake duals question

I'm assuming the exhaust on my 95 LX is factory since car has only 78,000 miles on it. My question is why in the world would the exhaust be installed the way it is, with this H pipe(think thats what its called) and TWO mufflers back by bumper? Why wouldn't ya just put a muffler mid with SI/DO and then just run the pipes on back with some tips on them? Thats what I'm thinking of doing, is there some issues with this I don't know?

Your car comes stock with a Y pipe not an h pipe that I'm aware of. It really depends on what kind of sound your trying to get out of it too.

Its just the way they designed them and to keep them quiet.
And the setup goes cats to resonator to mufflers

about to ask a stupid question, there is no sound or performance difference from getting a stainless steel muffler as opposed to the regular satin muffler just looks??

96 LX 3.8

Custom air intake, 9" K&N Cone, ASP underdrive pulleys, True Duals with DI/DO midmounted Magnaflow, ported upper and lower intakes, ported TB...and more to come

The Stainless steel version is more rust resistant. If youre in a sunny and warm climate, an aluminized muffler would last for a real long time. My 94 bird has the original exhaust system on it, and its no where near the end of its service life.

But i seriously doubt youd notice any performance difference between the two.

Stock exhaust is restrictive and not the best for performance . It does it's job of keeping things quiet, which is what it was designed for.

No performance differance between a stainless and a aluminum muffler. Stainless is just more rust resistant than aluminum and it is pricey.

Not sure what the resonator does but if I remove it and put lets say for example, a magnaflow SI/DO, tailpipes with tips, any problems without the res? What would sound be like?

Honestly your better off removing the 3rd so you have some room there too. If you put that muffler in there it would sound similar to mine. Look in the soundclips sticky at the top of this forum (exhaust) i have a quick clip i took of the sound.

why not go with a magna DI/DO muff and run straights the rest of the way out? they have a really good sound to em. and if you wanta really mean sound you can always do cams and maybe some headers, that always makes em sound great

cut everyhting out, cut off 3r cat back. run true duals all the way back with the muffler where the resonator use to be midbody. this seems to be the most popular setup for sound and prob preformance
