Going under the bird this thursday

im currently running stock exhaust on my 95 lx bird aside from borla mufflers....this thursday im planning on removing the 3rd cat and resonator and welding in custom Y pipe into a 2 1/2" straight pipe back to the mufflers. Cant do true duals at this time although i would sort of like to. My question is, do you guys think it will be worth doing (sound increase wise) or can i do more to improve the sound without going to true duals...?

im thinking of ding the same. i was gonna do stock cats and replace resonator with y pipe and cut off muffs and extend pipe to tips......save money and maybe run drue duals next summer when i got the $$. im interested in good sound clip. there are some on here but can't really get feel for it

if it rasps too much you may want to consider a glasspack, i put one on my 90 and it cleaned it up a lot

got it done....well almost. We got the resonator off and a pipe welded in its place but i still need to get a Y pipe for the 3rd cat. anyone have any suggestions on how to go about removing the 3rd cat and replacing it with the Y?

works on my end, have to wait bout 15-20 secs. for it to load. sounds pretty darn good. i went outside last night and hacked my 3rd cat off and put the 2 glasspacks that were in the back on there. sounds alright but is loud as he** on the inside

resonator

Just wondering...do ya'll have smog tests there? I was wondering what the purpose of the resonator...just for noise (quiet) or does it have any thing to do with pollution control..like the cats? Would be a lot cheaper to just replace the cats and ditch the midlle ...resonator. We get tested hear and it passed but they have to be getting clogged up I'm sure (90K)

when i took off the resonator i used a plasma cutter to see whats inside, just for fun. it was really just like a silencer for a gun, inside of a can basically. It only baffles, doesnt help with smog, as far as i know

and yes we have some of the most strict emission laws out here
