exhaust leak from kooks headers

i was just curious if anybody who is running kooks headers has issues with exhaust leaks from between the flange and the head. i've just always heard this was an issue and was really wanting to get a set of headers for my 4.6 dohc when i swap it into my bird. also does the jethot coating realistically make a differance in the life of the headers? thanks, Dave

I can't say on the topic of leaks(I'm too broke for a new hub, let alone $500 headers), but I remember reading a while back someone reliable like maybe KD or JL said the jethot coating made a difference for the little extra bit of cash. I'd go ahead and do it.

If you use crappy gaskets,or if you don't tighten the flages right when you install them-they'll leak. That's all headers, not any brand in specific.

Agreed. I'm running a set of Ford exhaust manifold gaskets and Stage 8 locking header bolts with my Kooks, and I haven't had any leaks as of yet.

I'd definitely recommend having the headers ceramic coated.
