True Duals on a 3.8?

I want my 83 thunderbird to have that old muscle car sound and I understand you cant get much out of a V6. I have a high flow cat and 40 flowmaster. Sounds nice now. When idling, sounds like an 8. When i rev it, sounds beautiful. However, when im out on the road, gets a little too high. I dont know if I like it too much. I really dont want to be mistakin as a ricer. Now if I were to put true duals on it. Same as my originial exhuast. High flow to a 40 flowmaster, would it be worth it? Would I gain sound? Would I get a lower rumble? Im just afraid I wont have enough back pressure. Also im afraid of losing sound. What do you all think? Also, should a get a set of headers?

In my honest opinion a six is never going to get real rumbly or throaty like a v8 would. In my opinion you cant get the true sound of a v8 without having an actual v8. In my opinion it'd be a waste to spend more money on the exhaust because it will probably just get louder instead of throatier. Like take for example all the guys running Vsux mustangs with flowmasters or magnaflows and high flow cats, they never sound like a true V8. So in my opinion if you want your exhaust to be throatier dont spend anymore money on it, it will just get louder.... good luck

thanks screamin bird, I understand it will be louder, but will it sound nasty? Ive heard V6 mustangs and I dont care for the sound. However, Mustangs have like 3 cats on em. Plus, being carburated, (and with my idling F'ed up), its got that low dieing sound which is actually pretty nice.

It's kind of up to you really. Like i can try to describe the sound all i want online but the truth is everyone's different and what i think is nasty you might think is the best sound in the world. But i've heard one or two vsux mustangs with straights (i believe 2.5") into 2 magnaflows and some people like it. But i think it sounds like a garbage, i think it sounds like a old beat up shop truck with a high flow muffler on there... But again thats JUST me... Its up to you chief! Good luck

I have catless true duals on my 3.8 Mustang....it's louder and deeper than stock, but doesn't really sound GOOD....IMO you can't make a V6 sound all that great no matter what you do. Plus I really feel like my car lost a bit of low end torque with this mod....
