Eliminating the muffler off a 3.8

If i cut the muffler off of my 3.8 to put a straight tip on, how loud would it make the car?
Thanks, Keith

It's going to get quite a bit louder and sound terrible IMO. I wouldn't do it.

Heck, my V8 sounded like crap with the mufflers hacked off. I could only imagine how bad a 3.8 would sound.

I unbolted the pipe from the 3rd cat back and it sounded like a ricer with a fart can. I couldn't believe that sound was coming out of my precious tbird!

i hacked my muffler off and put straight pipe in place of it. sounded ok, little bit deeper, nothing to sneeze at though. if you really want a nice sound, remove the muffler and middle resonator and have a glasspack or aftermarket muffler installed in the middle and run pipes split to duals out the back.

i have heard a few 4.6s with no rear mufflers. they sound pretty good, imo.

Thing is, you have 2 extra cylinders. That means a lot in the exhaust game.
