Just wondering

i was wondering if on the thunderbird if the third cat is a cat or is a resonator. If any can tell me plz I was told it was a cat then was told it was a resonator.

there is both.
the first one(where the pipes meet 2 into 1), is the cat.
The next thing in line is a resonator.

i dont think the 96+ has a resonator after the 3rd cat, its just a 3rd cat and a pipe

forgot to say also if your gonna have the cat removed by a shop tell them its a resonator or they wont remove it without replacing it with another one.

My 84 only has 2 cats. Not sure if that helps or not

When I had my exhaust removed, 3rd cat, into resonator, then muffler. Cali won't take off that 3rd cat, even if I told them it is a resonator.

96-97 V6 cars had the resonator, the V8 didn't.
