347 turbo SC dyno results

I don't have any charts to post because the dyno printer broke, so I'm just going by memory. He's supposed to be e-mailing them, and I'll post some when I get them.

Pump gas with 14.6 dropping off to 11.5 pounds of boost (more about that later): about 535 rwhp 565 rwtq.

Race gas with 20 pounds of boost: about 665 rwhp 650 rwtq.

All runs were pretty rich at about 11.2 or richer and max WOT timing was something like 20 degrees, and methanol injection was reduced by about 40%. This was on a Mustang dyno and the numbers above are SAE corrected...the uncorrected numbers were quite a bit higher (something like 687 rwhp with 20 pounds).

I wanted to go for a max boost pull, but the tuner talked me out of it and thought I was crazy to go any higher than 20. Since we were already on the dyno for 2.5 hours and about 15 pulls the motor was getting a little heat soaked and the dyno's wide band crapped out on the last pull, so I decided not to push my luck and quit while I was ahead.

I expected to see a little higher numbers at 20 pounds, but even though the numbers wern't as high as expected the car felt wicked strong on the dyno and ripped thru the high boost pulls extremly fast. The tires were spinning on the rollers on almost every pull, but I don't think it affected the peak power numbers.

Even with the boost falling off, we were able to increase the pump gas power by about 50 rwhp and a similar amout of torque by cleaning up the A/F ratio curve, leaning it out a little and adding more timing. Even with a mix a race gas, the pump gas tune is noticibly stronger than it was.

To maintain 15 pounds, I'm going to need to switch to a lighter wastegate spring (have a 14 pound spring now) and use the boost controller to assist the spring. I couldn't get the boost to stop falling off until increasing it to around 17.5 pounds which is too much boost for pump gas. It's a real pain in the azz to change the spring, so I'm not in any hurry.

I'm also thinking my el-cheapo Autozone 4" ID x 6" no name cone filter might be a restriction at the higher boost levels. Anyway...all things considered I'm pretty happy with the results. Oh and best of all nothing broke

Keith,

I'm not done yet....these are just preliminary results.

PS: Just wondering what other MN12 is making better than these weak numbers.

I'm thinking that without a roll cage you might twist that biotch in half.

Keith,

Are you talking about that jackass rollin with a gelcoat Cobra R hood and dents all over the car from ladders falling on it ? If so, I think I can take em...especially if the owner is driving.

Here's the 20 pound dyno sheets. I have no idea why the numbers on the summary page don't jibe with the numbers at the bottom of the chart. If you look at the date/times...they are from the same pull.
