SOLD
I've been putting a lot of thought into this the past few weeks and I've decided to sell my Thunderbird. It's a 1996 Sport with, as far as I can tell, every factory option. This car is truly in unbelievable condition. I say near mint because I don't want to be misleading in any way & it does have a couple of minor issues that I'll detail below. I posted previously how I just don't use & enjoy the car like I thought I would and it's a shame that it just sits unused. In addition to that I was renting a garage locally but the guy passed away & the family sold the row of garages. So now I have to store it in my one car garage at home.
I purchased it with about 57,800 miles & it currently has 59,266 miles. I'll do my best to give the history of the car.
I purchased it from an older couple in Pennsylvania in July 2017. They had purchased it from the original owner back in 1998 and they used it as a weekend cruiser. These people had 7 vehicles so I had no reason to doubt them. Just to clarify, the Carfax report at the time I purchased it showed 3 previous owners but what happened is the couple I purchased it from re-registered in 2012 as a Classic Car with new license plates & that showed up as a new owner. So a Carfax would now show me as the 4th owner but I am actually the third owner.
There is no rust on this car and other than a few small dings on the front bumper the paint is in unbelievable condition. I've only had it two years & other than driving it in the rain the day I purchased it, I've never had it out in bad weather. The only time it even got wet was whenever I washed it.
The only known issues are:
1: The doors sag a little which I guess should be expected with these cars
2: The power seat works sporadically and it this point it does not work much more often then it does. It will always go up & down but forward & back is likely not going to work when attempted. I'm 6'4" so the seat is currently all the way back. I never took the time to try to fix it because no one else drives the car anyway except for myself.
3: The CD player works however it doesn't like to eject the CD's. If you put a CD in you might not get it back :smile2:
I'm only going to post it here on TCCOA.
Price $4,000
I know these cars are nothing special but I feel like the price is fair considering the condition. My real hope is to sell it before winter because I'll be taking the plates off of it toward the end of October for the winter. I know that's unlikely to happen and if takes a year or more to sell it then I'm fine with that. It's late now and I literally just made the final decision to actually sell it so the pictures I'm posting right now are pictures from the previous owner back in 2017. I'll get some updated pictures tomorrow and post them.
When I purchased the car in July 2017 I paid for Carchex inspection and the inspector said the car drove like new. They also provided a Carfax report that I will try to upload also. The report is obviously 2 years old but it's something that may help anyone interested.
