Engine reliability?

Looking at one for a 24 hour race. What are the "gunna fails" and "probably will fails" of this engine?

Thanks! Eric

The only really questionable piece of the 2.3 is the distributor/aux shaft gears. They can sometimes have a contest on who is going to eat the other first. Sometimes it's a suicide pact. Most of the time they aren't an issue, but it's a possibility.

Keeping the turbo oiled and oil temps down is a prime concern. For competition use, I'd use an air/oil oil cooler instead of the stocker (if you can change it).

If you are rebuilding the engine, ARP rods bolts are your friend. Don't need much else and don't get sucked into thinking you'll need a hi-pressure or hi-volume oil pump. (See the first part of this post) the stocker will supply enough.

Really if you keep them oiled and cool, the 2.3 is a pretty stout motor and hard to kill.
